Way too strict

Way too strict

I think the activity part of getting onto the MCWB server is too strict, if needed at all. because most people don't want to sit around at the forums, they will just give up trying, therefore we (you, I mean, I haven't even passed yet) are losing a potential good person, skilled builder, or something like that. Maybe it's just me, but just talking about minecraft is boring, and I tend to talk more on minecraft forums when I'm part of the server. Sorry if I didn't explain well, explaining is not my forte. :3

Bow down to me, mortal.

Re: Way too strict

Because this ''forum activity'' shows you really want to be part of the Community. The off Topic section doesn't count, i'm 99.9% sure.

If people take them time to help around the forums and so on then that shows they really want to become part of the servers/community. I'm sure most people who like to grief wouldn't waste alot of time becoming part of a community they will try to destroy. I personally don't think it is strict.

To be completely honest that's sorta the point. The server is an extension of the forums, not the other way around. an easy way to understand it is the servers are a gift that was given to the forum members. if you are not a forum member, why should you be given there gift?

but on the same note, we do like to have new people in and its not to say you have to be a seasoned MCWB forum veteran before you can play on the servers.
all that is asked of you is that you make an attempt to be part of the community before logging into a community server.
and its actually not that strict at all.   the registration process goes as follows.

first, you have to get 100% on a quiz.   all of the questions are reasonably easy, but if they give you trouble every correct answer is here in the forums. so really all you have to do is look around and you pass.  and the point of these questions are to make sure you have read and understood the servers rules. (one of the things that helps keep this server as awesome as it is)

once you have 100% on the questions, an admin will look at your posting history.   if you have been posting productively in the forums, (aka you didn't just go down the first page of threads and post "i agree" in each one to up the post count") then you will be added to the whitelist.
if the admin does not feel like you have been actually trying to contribute to the community at all, it will be declined and you will have to re-apply.

personally I don't think its asking too much to say "know the rules, and actually make an effort to be part of the community".

P.S.
to further try and show that the servers application standards are not that strict, by posting this thread saying you feel its to hard to get into the server, just put you closer to getting into the server. not because we are going to change the rules about the applications because you feel its too strict, but because the rules are working like they should.... and even if this thread is a negative one, it is regardless, a meaningful, structured post, about something you disagree with.  and thus, does in fact count towards being an active forum member. wink

so if you are having a hard time trying to get in, then simply take a break form the questions, and have a chat with some of the fellow community members, then go back and try again.  and remember that every question is answered here in the forums.  do that and you will be logging on in no time at all.

Re: Way too strict

the reason there so strict is because most people have different religions and they may take some stuff serious but still its actually good and they are the mature server they don't like messing around so that's why mainly.
