Request for family usage of account

I typed this question in addition to my intro but looking back now and seeing that member introductions are rarely replied to, I figured the introduction section was maybe inappropriate. It's for intros after all, so I'll just keep my intro there and nothing else.

I am awaiting confirmation for whitelist so I am asking the staff here for permission to allow my 8-year-old brother usage of my account while on this server, under my strict supervision of course. I will be overseeing what he does and what he says and I will also be guiding him. This would be his first multiplayer experience and that's why I have chosen this site since it proclaims to be family-friendly and has a thorough application process. I understand that it doesn't guarantee there won't be swearing or griefing, but the fact that swearing and griefing are bannable offences helps a lot.

He's a very mild-mannered and non-confrontational boy by nature with a good sense of morals so I am confident that he will be on his best behaviour. If I see any signs to the contrary I will simply disconnect from the server, but I can't see myself needing to do that. He also understands common sense server etiquette from our discussions on the topic of multiplayer Minecraft servers. I will brush him up on anything else he needs to know.

Please staff let me know if you would agree to let him on under my account name provided he is supervised by myself at all times. If not then I understand your caution and I will simply play on this server when he's not here. He only stays over here some weekends so that gives me plenty of time to participate while he isn't around.

technically its up to you but its you that takes the risk of being banned.

Under the Server rules it quotes

Make sure that you are the only person who knows your Minecraft password, that it is a strong password, and that you change it regularly. The security of your account is your responsibility to maintain. If your account gets hacked or you leave your account logged in and someone else joins the server with your name, and any of the server rules are broken as a result, then your account will be banned.

Yes, I have read all of the rules for both the site and the server, including the one which states:

As per the website rules, players are only allowed one account on the MCWB server, and that account is to have only one player (unless specifically agreed otherwise prior to joining the whitelist by a member of MCWB staff).

This implies that a joint account can be agreed upon with staff consent, so that I don't get banned for two people using a single account. That's the purpose of me making this thread - to ask permission to do this.

Addressing your point on password sharing, I will remain the only person who knows my Minecraft password. As I said my brother will be supervised at all times, this includes log-in and log-out time. He will not need to know my password, I will log-in for him.

It is strongly recommended that you would have a separated account for him to use, but I can understand not wanting to buy another minecraft account if it would only be used when your brother is over.

You understand that if given permission you will be liable for everything he does, and in return banned from the server if he breaks a rule on your account right? If you fully understand the risks of sharing an account, then I will discuss it with the staff.

We read every post that is made when we review whitelist applications but due to the number of applications we cannot always reply to everyone's intro post. I agree with your decision to ask elsewhere regarding this matter, however. smile

Yeah, unfortunately mum won't let him download Minecraft because she isn't convinced it definitely won't give their laptop a virus. Plus even if she did let him download it and have his own account none of us like the thought of him going on multiplayer alone. He's a bit too young for that I think. And as you say it's a bit much to buy an account that's only going to be used less than maybe two days every fortnight.

I understand that I will be fully responsible for anything that he does on the server.

Also, um... I know we aren't supposed to ask about the application but I only need more clarity on the reason. I noticed my application was rejected for the reason "forum activity". I don't know what this means. Does this mean I am not active enough yet? Or does it mean I posted something I shouldn't have? I just need some clarification.
